At the beginning of 2021, the average price of bromine market was about 33333.33 RMB/ ton, and the average market price
at the end of the year was about 53142.86 RMB/ton, with a price increase of 59.43%.
Since 2021, with the increase of environmental safety inspections in major domestic bromine production areas such as
Laizhou, Zhanhua and Dongying in Shandong Province, most bromine manufacturers have stopped production, and the
shutdown rate of bromine enterprises in some areas has reached 70%, and the bromine market is difficult to obtain. At the
same time, due to the slow rise in temperature this year and the large temperature difference, the production capacity of
seawater bromine this year is only half of that of the same period in previous years, which further aggravates the tight situation of bromine market supply. From January to June this year, the total domestic bromine production was only about 35,500 tons, only 66% of the output in the same period last year.
The lack of domestic bromine production capacity has made many downstream enterprises turn their attention to overseas
markets. According to the data released by the General Administration of Customs, the cumulative domestic bromine imports
from January to May reached 24,400 tons, an increase of nearly 24% over the same period last year.
However, due to the outbreak of the epidemic in India, one of the major bromine producers, and the shortage of shipping
capacity, the import of bromine still cannot fully fill the domestic capacity gap. Some analysts expect that the country's
expected supply of bromine in the first half of the year is about 64,500 tons, down 17% from the same period last year.
